Solution

Together with NOW Technologies, an IT research laboratory operating in the USA and Hungary, we are developing a digital platform that connects medical devices with the people who support them. The project combines a mobile application, cloud backend and administration interface to collect, manage and analyse data from connected wheelchairs. This gives service providers and support teams a clearer picture of the device without always needing to be physically present with it. akwit is responsible for developing the data acquisition and remote management platform, including the mobile application, backend services and administration interface — combining our experience in connected devices, IoT, mobile applications and cloud-based software with the requirements of a complex medical-device environment.

Remote support

For connected medical devices, maintenance and support can be challenging. A service visit may require significant travel, time and coordination — even when the underlying problem could potentially be identified or resolved remotely. The platform is designed to change this model. By continuously collecting device telemetry and making it available remotely, support teams can monitor devices, investigate issues and identify potential problems before they require an on-site intervention. This opens the door to predictive maintenance and more efficient remote support, reducing unnecessary travel and helping service teams focus their time where it matters most.
